The company provides the university with scientific equipment and internships for students
PPG announced the completion of a project to renovate the chemistry laboratory at Lipetsk State Technical University. Thus, the resident allocated about 2.8 million rubles to purchase 19 items of new scientific equipment that will be used both for disciplines devoted to coatings and for individual student research.
"PPG cooperates with universities all over the world because we know how important qualified personnel are in natural sciences, mathematics and engineering," - said Olga Kolevatova, CEO of PPG in Russia. - We hope that our cooperation with LSTU will be useful for the university and will allow young specialists to get closer to their professional and scientific plans".
LSTU students will also be offered internships at PPG's automotive and industrial coatings facility in Lipetsk. This initiative will help young professionals gain practical experience in the paint industry and receive additional training.
"Today is a triple celebration: firstly, it is the day of Russian students, and secondly, LSTU has received a high-class laboratory and a reliable partner represented by the PPG company. I would like to wish the students to improve their knowledge through their experience, and to wish PPG to find valuable employees among the students. Thirdly, we see the first manifestation of the ESG concept: social responsibility of business, in this case a contribution to education", - stressed Sergey Kurbatov, deputy head of the Lipetsk regional administration.
"We are glad to help LSTU, the leading university of the Lipetsk region, to train personnel for the developing economy of the region. In our experience, LSTU students demonstrate a high level of professional training. By upgrading the laboratory equipment we are helping to prepare them for practical work," - added Oleg Valuyev, director of the Lipetsk PPG plant.
Some time ago PPG volunteers have been renovating the halls of the university using paints and varnishes of TIKKURILA® brand from PPG within the COLORFUL COMMUNITIES® project. PPG provided about 150 liters of paint materials, including Tikkurila Euro Primer and TIKKURILA LUJA 7® wall and ceiling paint. The total area painted exceeded 400 square meters. On several walls appeared murals, created by the Lipetsk artist Daniil Beliy, whose portfolio includes other public projects. The theme of the drawings is devoted to chemistry and will remind the students about the progress of science and its importance for the future society.
